简介

Alex Chia is a Singaporean rock singer who was born in Singapore and has loved music since childhood, beginning guitar lessons at age 12. Although he studied mechanical engineering in high school, he later worked in interior design. His artistic career began in 1998 when he became active in the Singapore music scene, and in 2000 he joined the rock band V's as lead vocalist and guitarist. He left the band in 2006 and worked as a singer at a nightclub at Clarke Quay. With over 3,000 performances to his name, he possesses extensive experience and undeniable live vocal abilities. In 2011, after the band's lead singer Toy died in a car accident, guitarist Francis wanted to create an original songs album to commemorate Toy, so he contacted former member Alex Chia for help producing the album. After completing the album, Alex sought record labels in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China until it caught the attention of Wong Pak Ho, who greatly appreciated him and signed him as an artist under Hong Kong's Sun Entertainment Culture in 2013. In 2015, Beyond member Paul Wong wrote and performed a rock song specifically for him titled "A Thief Has His Way," handling the lyrics, composition, production, backing vocals, guitar, and bass guitar. This was not their first collaboration—they first met in 2009 during a concert in Singapore where Alex was Paul Wong's band leader and guitarist. In 2015, he was also invited to perform the Cantonese and Mandarin theme songs for the film "SPL II," with the music video surpassing 800,000 views. In 2016, he appeared as a special guest at Paul Wong's "Heroes Have Scores World Tour" concerts in Hong Kong and Singapore, performing his own song "Day by Day" and singing "A Thief Has His Way" and Beyond's classic "Glorious Years" with Paul. In 2015, he won the Best New Artist award at the 新城國語力 Awards, along with Best Song and Best Music Video awards.
